• United States Led Entire World In Reducing CO2 Emissions In 2019 | The Daily Wire — “The United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis – a fall of 140 Mt, or 2.9%, to 4.8 Gt,” The International Energy Agency (IEA) reported on Tuesday. “US emissions are now down almost 1 Gt from their peak in the year 2000, the largest absolute decline by any country over that period.”
• Opioid prescriptions down significantly in Missouri Medicaid — "We're not where we ultimately need to be, but this is pretty dramatic progress from where we were," said Todd Richardson, director of the MO HealthNet Division that oversees the state Medicaid program. Opioid prescriptions for Medicaid patients peaked in 2010, when 183,566 people received nearly 52 million pills with an overall potency equal to 726 million milligrams of morphine. In 2019, a total of 109,610 Medicaid patients received nearly 23 million opioid pills with an overall potency equal to nearly 253 million milligrams of morphine.
• Girl beats transgender track star by 0.02 seconds in state championship race | Disrn — Chelsea Mitchell won the Class S 55-meter dash title with a time of 7.18 seconds, narrowly beating the transgender runner, who finished at 7.20 seconds. "It's definitely big because I've never beaten her before," Mitchell said, referring to Miller.
• Border Patrol to deploy tactical units to sanctuary cities | Disrn — The tactical units are being sent to cities including Chicago and New York to help bolster the power of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers in the area, according to two officials who are familiar with the matter. Agents are also expected to be sent to San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Houston, Boston, New Orleans, Detroit, and Newark, New Jersey.

• James Carville warns of 'end of days' if Dems choose Bernie: 'I'm not interested in being in a cult!' | Fox News — James Carville, a political strategist and former top adviser to President Bill Clinton, sounded the alarm Monday about the prospect of Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., winning the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, calling such a choice the "end of days" for the party. Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Carville said the Democrats must defeat President Trump in November or the country will be in an "abyss." But he said many of the candidates, Sanders in particular, are not appealing to enough of the electorate, including African-Americans.

“Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bond to Service for a Term of Years [i.e., indentured servants], and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons [i.e., slaves].” U.S. Constitution, Art. I, Sec. 2.

In the spirit of fake news, Black History Month provides a forum for news pundits to lament that the Founding Fathers thought the relative worth of black persons was three fifths of a person. They should (and likely) know better. The Three-fifths Clause is not about black or white but was a formula for counting slaves for purposes of congressional representation and taxation. Clearly slavery dehumanizes the enslaved, but the Three-fifths Clause was a compromise that was a partial win for abolitionists.

Free black persons existed long before the Constitution was written. The first Africans brought into captivity to colonial Virginia in 1619 became indentured servants who were freed typically after 7 years just as their white counterparts. Other slaves were freed when they converted to Christianity.

• St. Louis County Looks To Change Panhandling Regulations | St. Louis Public Radio — Council Chairwoman Lisa Clancy, D-Maplewood, has proposed repealing the problematic vagrancy ordinances altogether. She drafted legislation to strike them down at the request of the county council attorney’s office. Councilman Ernie Trakas, R-South County, introduced a competing plan this week. He wants to rewrite the vagrancy regulations so they still deter panhandling but don’t run afoul of the law.
• Homelessness in Missouri down overall, yet rose in St. Louis County - The Missouri Times — The number of individuals who have experienced homelessness in Missouri has dropped in recent years, according to a new study from the Missouri Housing Development Commission.  The 112-page study, done in conjunction with the California-based Homebase organization, used data from the commission and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to show how the “homelessness system has developed in recent years” in Missouri. The 2019 Missouri Statewide Homelessness Study covered 2014-2018.

• 2.4 Million Households Off Food Stamps Under Trump | Breitbart — More than 2.4 million households discontinued their participation in the nation’s food stamp program since President Donald Trump’s first full month in office in 2017, according to the latest U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) data. The most recent USDA data showed that 2,424,901 families stopped using food stamps under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), between February 2017— when Trump finished his first full month as president— and October 2019.
• Right Direction or Wrong Track - Rasmussen Reports® — Forty-five percent (45%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey for the week ending January 16, 2020. This week’s finding is up five points from a week ago, and is the highest finding since February 2017. By comparison, this number ran in the mid- to upper 20s for much of 2016, President Obama's last full year in office.

• RESEARCH | Back to the Bible — Research plays a key role in our mission to help people grow spiritually. We work with researchers at the Center for Bible Engagement (CBE) to find out how people best connect with Scripture and what difference it makes in their lives.  The Center for Bible Engagement seeks to answer the question: Why do so many people own Bibles but so few read them? The CBE goes beyond simple Bible usage statistics to consider attitudes and behaviors that significantly impact spiritual growth and a person's relationship with God. The primary goal of the CBE is to develop tools and resources that will engage people with God's Word.

• Adam Schiff: Congress Must Impeach Trump to Stop Him in 2020 — House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Tuesday indicated that Democrats must impeach President Trump quickly in order to stop him from prevailing in the 2020 presidential election. Democrats on Tuesday unveiled two articles of impeachment against the president: abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. Notably, neither allege a high crime or misdemeanor. Noticeably absent was the Democrats’ longheld appeal to bribery, extortion, or treason.

• SOTA - HRA — The SOTA program provides one year's full rent up front for eligible DHS clients to move within New York City, to other New York State counties, or to another state, Puerto Rico, or Washington, DC. SOTA can be accessed by working individuals and families and those who receive SSI, SSD, etc. as long as there is the future ability to make rent payments based on the household's rent not exceeding 50% of the household's income.
• Did Matt Drudge Shift to the Left and Sell the Drudge Report? — "What happened to Drudge?"A lot of people have been asking that question lately. If you talk to conservatives these days, you'll hear that Matt Drudge's eponymous news aggregation site has gone over to the dark side—that Matt's joined the anti-Trump resistance. And now, Rasmussen Reports, an arguably reputable polling operation, is calling Drudge out on Twitter, even suggesting that the site has been sold.
• Arrests and removals of illegal immigrants, a ‘majority’ convicts, up under Trump — The report also showed that most illegal immigrants seized in the U.S. are from Latin American nations. Deportations in 2018, for example, included 16,141 from El Salvador, 52,755 from Guatemala, 32,180 from Honduras, and 139,330 from Mexico.
• Poll: Trump surges in battleground states as impeachment plays out | Disrn — Polling from Firehouse Strategies shows that President Trump has surged in key battleground states as the Democrats' impeachment proceedings unfold, pulling ahead in hypothetical matchups against all Democratic presidential candidates.

• UPDATE: FBI TAKING OVER – Pensacola Naval base shooter that shot 11 and left 3 dead was from Saudi Arabia – The Right Scoop — Four people are dead including the suspect after an active shooting incident at a naval base in Pensacola, Florida, police said. The shooter was a Saudi national in the U.S. for flight training, two law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation told ABC News. Investigators are trying to determine whether the shooting was terror-related or not, the officials said.

Let's hope it's the latter, or this country is toast. To which I responded: I agree completely. This is just meant to trigger the kooks.

Addressing several hundred African-American supporters who signed up to help him win another term, he vowed to compete for support across racial lines.

• Heavily pregnant mother uses an AR-15 to kill a home intruder after two men burst into Florida home | Daily Mail Online — Jeremy King was brutally attacked when two armed, masked men stormed into his home in Lithia, Florida last Wednesday night He said the men started grabbing his 11-year-old daughter and pistol-whipping him as they demanded money King said one of the men fired a shot at his eight-month pregnant wife when she came out of the bedroom to see what was happening She quickly grabbed their AR-15 and started shooting at the armed intruders King's wife fatally struck one of the intruders as he tried to flee and police said they are still searching for the other suspect   King had to have 20 stitches and three staples in his head following the attack 
• Virginia is now a solidly Blue Democratic state and here’s WHY it happened… – The Right Scoop — CNN – Democrats will win majorities in Virginia’s House and Senate on Tuesday, CNN projects, giving the party full control of the state’s government for the first time in more than two decades. The victories put Gov. Ralph Northam and Democrats in the Legislature in position to pursue a progressive agenda — including gun control measures, which majority Republicans had blocked, and a higher minimum wage.

For our part, we must be ever vigilant. When your coworker asks you how you can support Trump based on what has been shown on CNN, you very sweetly ask, "Can I interview you and then show only clips of what you said? No full questions and answers just what I want people to see. Is that okay with you?"

Most people can understand how unfair a proceeding is if it's framed in that light.

Katie Hill under fire for extramarital three-way ‘throuples’ relationship with staffers — A Democrat U.S. congresswoman involved in two simultaneous extramarital affairs with staff members is wading into legal and ethical issues. According to RedState, Rep. Katie Hill of California, currently in the process of a divorce, was involved in a two-year “throuple” (as in love triangle) relationship involving her husband and her young female staffer. The congresswoman subsequently went on to have an extramarital affair with her former finance director after moving to Washington, D.C. in January.

• Phoenix abortion doctor arrested after pointing gun at sidewalk protester – Disrn — A Phoenix abortion doctor has been arrested after pointing a gun at a pro-life sidewalk protester from inside his car as he drove past him on his way out of the clinic parking lot Thursday. The exchange was caught by pro-life demonstrator Elvis Kesto’s body camera.
• Youth suicide rate increased 56% from 2007 to 2017 – Disrn — The suicide rate of individuals ages 10 to 24 increased 56 percent between 2007 and 2017, the CDC revealed. The rate of homicide deaths decreased by 23 percent from 2007 to 2014, but increased by 18 percent from 2014 to 2017.

• Trump Administration Cracks Down on Chinese Diplomats in U.S. — The Trump administration issued new restrictions on the actions Chinese government diplomats are permitted to take in the United States in response to the communist government blocking American personnel stationed in Beijing from meeting with key assets, according to U.S. officials. The State Department will now require all Chinese foreign missions, including embassy staff and those working in consulates across the United States, to notify the Trump administration in advance of all official meetings held on American soil.

• Inside Austin's $18 million tiny home village for the homeless - Business Insider — On the east side of Austin, Texas, 180 formerly homeless residents live in 200-square-foot tiny homes at Community First Village. They pay rent that averages about $300 a month, go to work thanks to on-site employment opportunities, and feed off of a 2-acre farm. The village is the brainchild of founder Alan Graham, who spent years serving the city's homeless before pooling $18 million in privately-donated funds to construct Community First in 2015. Whistleblower Aid was launched in September 2017 — eight months after Trump's inauguration — with an advertising blitz that involved mobile billboards being driven close to the White House, Congress, outside the Pentagon, and around the headquarters of the CIA and National Security Agency.

The overall number of background checks recorded in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System surged 15.5%, said the National Shooting Sports Foundation. That figure includes background checks done for security, concealed carry permits, and gun sales and was the highest August number ever recorded.

• Democrat Staffers Barred From Touring Border Facilities After Previous Rude Behavior - The Mental Recession — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) barred Democrat House Oversight Committee staffers from entering border facilities this week following previous visits in which they were accused of being “disruptive” and “rude.”

Also, the DNC is in trouble financially and their ground game is suffering. Despite having most pollsters lying on their behalf, many within the party apparatus are complaining because President Trump is on mission.

• Why are so many men afraid to interact with women at work? | Arwa Mahdawi | Life and style | The Guardian — A new study, due to be published in the journal Organizational Dynamics, has found that, following the #MeToo movement, men are significantly more reluctant to interact with their female colleagues. A few highlights from the research include: • 27% of men avoid one-on-one meetings with female co-workers. Yep, that’s right, almost a third of men are terrified to be alone in a room with a woman. • 21% of men said they would be reluctant to hire women for a job that would require close interaction (such as business travel). • 19% of men would be reluctant to hire an attractive woman.

It turns out that enforcing the law is actually a deterrent to crime after all. (Who knew?)

• The Poorest 20% of Americans Are Richer on Average Than Most Nations of Europe – Just Facts — A groundbreaking study by Just Facts has discovered that after accounting for all income, charity, and non-cash welfare benefits like subsidized housing and Food Stamps—the poorest 20% of Americans consume more goods and services than the national averages for all people in most affluent countries. This includes the majority of countries in the prestigious Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), including its European members. In other words, if the U.S. “poor” were a nation, it would be one of the world’s richest.

• New York Times Hides $$$ to Smear Trump Policies as Anti-Immigrant — The paper’s dismissal of economics is buried deep in a long and critical article about Trump’s immigration policy and his top aide, Steven Miller. The dismissal allows the article to comply with the August 12 instructions from the NYT‘s senior editor who urged reporters to treat public debates over immigration policy as racial conflicts, not as disputes over money, wages, salaries, profits, and stock prices.
• It Is Arithmetically Impossible to Fund the Progressive Agenda by Taxing the Rich | The Heritage Foundation — Confiscating every dollar earned by taxpayers with incomes over $200,000 would not come close to paying for the left’s agenda.Progressive policies would require either increasing middle-class taxes to three to 10 times existing levels or radically higher, unsustainable federal borrowing.Progressive promises would increase federal taxes and spending to levels higher than other advanced countries and have a dramatic adverse impact on the economy.
