Today Angela and I discussed how charter schools are under an unprecedented threat from the Biden admin, which has proposed a rule that could effectively halt any new charter school from being established. They plan to issue a rule that would block charter schools from $440 million in new federal grants unless they jump through punishing regulatory hoops, including getting the approval of local government-run schools - essentially blocking new any charter schools from existence unless the teachers unions approve it.
Also big news from the Supreme Court as they consider Affirmative Action in College Admissions. SCOTUS will hear Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard which alleges that colleges give unfair advantages to celebs, and children of ppowerful people using a "Deans Interest List" to admit famous kids over more qualified students who lack clout.

- Education Freedom - Defense of Freedom Institute — Worse yet, union leaders and their allies have used their political power to push aside parents, families, and classroom teachers to dominate public education in ways that harm students and limit their opportunities. Rather than bolster innovative educators who can work with parents to meet the individual learning needs of each student, union activists have favored an outdated industrial model of education in order to increase their political power. Their embrace of ideological approaches to teaching, like Critical Race Theory and pedagogical fads, has thwarted good classroom teachers, ignored sound academics, and distracted the public from the pressing need to prepare students for careers and higher education.
